The title of this article might seem like an oxymoron, but in reality the title is quite true.

Let me explain.

There are literally millions of people selling items on the Internet.  Everyone wants a piece of the Internet money pie.  Success really depends on where you concentrate your efforts.

Mark, an Internet marketer sets a goal to generate $30,000 in profits for his first year on the Internet.

If Mark promotes a toy rubber ducky that pays him a gross margin of $3 for every rubber ducky he sells, he would have to sell 10,000 rubber duckies to realize a net profit of $30,000.

Not an easy task.  Not to mention all the time and effort in packaging and shipping 10,000 rubber duckies!  This would cut into his time for marketing his business and most of all, his leisure time!

Not for Mark.

Now if Mark sells an ebook that generates a $30 gross margin, then he would have to sell 1,000 ebooks to realize that same $30,000 in profits as in the previous example.  It is a lot easier to sell 1,000 ebooks than 10,000 rubber duckies, but still no easy task.

He will still get emails from customers asking for help and responding to these emails can take a lot of time.  Is only a $30 gross margin worth all the effort?  Depends on who you are.

Mark is a bit more ambitious.

Mark decides to promote an Internet marketing private web site membership for $300.  He then only needs to make 100 sales to reach the $30,000 mark.

Do you get my point?

Selling products with a high profit return results in you having to do less work when it comes to generating sales.  But don't get me wrong!  Trying to sell a $300 web site membership is going to be a lot more difficult than a $3 rubber ducky.  But generating 100 sales is a lot less work than generating 10,000 sales.

This also pertains to affiliate programs.  Concentrate and work hard on the high profit items and quit spending all your energy promoting affiliate programs that only pay $1-$3 commissions.  Join the affiliate programs that pay handsome commissions such as $50, $100 or even $1000 in commissions per sale!

It is also important to sell items that do not require a lot of back end maintenance on your part.  You do not want to be spending your time providing technical support to customers all the time.  Your time is too precious to be doing all this extra work.
 

Some people think they cannot sell items that are priced over $100, but nothing could be further from the truth.  If the product is of high quality and worth the price, then it will sell itself.

Bottom line.

Take the high profit products and promote them like crazy!
